St. Peter's Guild of Change Ringers, Wolverhampton

Celebrating 100 years of our Gillett 12 in 2011

The Church

The first church was the monastery of St. Mary built in 994 by Lady Wulfrun. The current building was begun in 1425 and completed in 1867. Wolverhampton was made a Royal Peculiar in the Deanery of Wolverhampton and Windsor by King Edward IV in 1479 and this survived until 1846 when it became a Rectory.

Today as the Collegiate Church for the City of Wolverhampton, St. Peter's stands as the seat of the Bishop of Wolverhampton in the Diocese of Lichfield.

Further information about the history of the church can be found here.
